STOVER, JOHN J. & MARY IDA (WOLFE)

JOHN J. & MARY IDA  (WOLFE) according to Lancaster County, PA marriage license docket (#4213) were married on Sept 5, 1889.  He was 23 and listed as a farmer in East Earl Twp. and stated he had never been married.  Mary Ida Wolfe was 25 and lived in Fairville. She was approx. seven months pregnant at this point.  She had been married previously but had been granted a divorce on grounds of dissertation at some point earlier in 1889.

In the Lancaster City and County Directory of 1884, either he or his father is listed as a farmer in Terre Hill.

Lazarus Wolfe (Mary's father) was listed as a saloon owner in the same source as above.

The 1910 Census for Lancaster County (Terre Hill Borough) lists John J. Stover as living back with his widowed mother, Katie Stover.  He is listed as a farm laborer.  Also in the household is listed his brother Harry and sister Frances with a grandson named Lloyd (Floyd?) age 7.

According to the family group sheet I have patched together from talking to various relatives, this is what else is known at this point:

John Stover was born in Oct. 1866 to John B and Catherine (_____) Stover.  Mary Ida Wolfe was born Feb 22, 1864 to Lazarus and Elizabeth (Newpher) Wolfe and died Dec. 17, 1924 and she is buried in Terre Hill Cemetery. No one admits to knowing what happened between John and Mary Ida so that they started living apart.  Irvin Hahn married someone named Lottie - nothing further known at this point. Lottie Stover married a T.S. Diest (or Giest). Jennie C Stover married Taylor Applebach.  Elasta Stover married Ray Grube. Edna O. Stover married Louis Sturgis (of the Sturgis pretzel family).

FINDLEY, ANDREW & MARY (REESE)

ANDREW & MARY (REESE) FINDLEY:

These are the parents of my great grandma Anna Bertha Findley and at this point the only info that I have.  The info is from a conversation that grandma and I had in Oct. 1986 and she thought it was funny that I would take notes because "who would care".

She did not know when Andrew and Mary married, who their parents were,  or exactly what townships in southern Lancaster County they were from.  She did remember bits and pieces about the other children (her aunts and uncles) which is what is below.

Children:
1. Martin - no other info
2. Anna Bertha (b. 1885 and d. 1953) married to Frank Yost Ressler
3. Elmer - the only thing she remembered about him was that he was a coal dealer
4. Edward - single, fought in WW1.  Died by falling down an elevator shaft
5. David - single, fought in WW1.  Died by suicide.
6. Clayton - died of lung trouble
7. Esther - married name was Reinhart.  Died of hard work.
8. Joseph - farmer
9. Myrtle - "not quite right in the head".  Died of old age (possibly earlier in 1986).  Had an illegimate child by a man with the last name of Wiggins.  Possibly married twice.
