DIVORCE PAPERS OF JACOB & IDA (WOLF) HAHN 1888-89

The papers discussing the divorce of Jacob C. and Mary Ida (Wolf) Hahn are located in the Lancaster County Archives.  Many thanks to the staff there for locating and copying these for me.

Ida Hahn v. Jacob C. Hahn, case term December 1888-9, and the decree date is August 17, 1889

The papers do mention a child (Irvin) and do state that Jacob left Lancaster County due to his inability to pay debts.  According to the written statements, he did not pay support to either Ida or Irvin, and Ida requested a divorce on grounds of dissertation. Note: Ida's lawyer was A.O. Newpher, a relative through her mother's family - possibly an uncle.

In the January 1993 issue of Mennonite Family History Magazine was the below article on the family of Jacob & Susanna Ressler focusing on the line of Samuel Ressler (1804-1876). To be truthful, I am not very familiar with this line as I am descended through the next older boy, Daniel (1802-1901).  However, there are a couple things in the article I would like to correct or add to, so please continue to read below the nice article. 1. AFFLERBACH HOUSE IN GERMANY

This is the Afflerbach (Applebach) family home in Womelsdorf, Germany.  The farm has been passed down thru the generations to various family members and is still in the family.  When this photo was taken in May 1978, the resident was Karl Afflerbach.  While I lived in Germany, I visited with he and his wife and ate meals with them.  They proudly showed me the dark, low ceiling rooms that had been the original house back in the 1500's.  In Germany, houses used to be named and this one is the "Kraemershaus".
