I am slowly going through the 5 tubs of photos and letters that I inherited from mom.  It is a very slow process, partly because some days I just do not feel up to it, and other days because as I go through all of these memories I am trying to organize and complete the labels as I go. I am finding photos I have never seen before, which actually has been fun.

PAULINE (GARNER) APPLEBACH, HAHN 1937-2016

PAULINE REBA (GARNER) APPLEBACH, HAHN :

My mom died after an extended illness on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 in Buffalo, MN. My sister was with her.

I had been up there the week previous for a few days, and was actually in the airport to return to Minnesota when she died. Thankfully, she is no longer in pain and is with her Savior in Heaven.

Our brother had been with her the last part of October, so she had all of us there within the last few days.

Mom was the oldest child of Ralph and Reba (Ressler) GARNER.  Her siblings in birth order are: Jerry, Darlene (deceased), Cheryl, and Gloria. Mom, like her parents, grandparents, and siblings were all born in Lancaster County, PA. After her marriage to James APPLEBACH she moved to Nebraska, Idaho, North Dakota, and Montana. In 2011, we moved her to Minnesota to be closer to my sister.

She loved the color red, watching birds, visiting with people, reading the newspaper, and showing her love for her Savior in every way possible thru her life. She carried her Lancaster roots with her to each location she lived with her quaint "Penn Dutch" sayings, certain foods, and a respect for her family roots in the Amish/Mennonite cultures.

She was raised and lived in the same house at (now) 1747 Temple Ave, Lancaster, PA. until her first marriage. In many ways this house remained "home" as it was the family place until the mid 1990's when grandma moved into the Mennonite Home years after Pappy's death.

She married James APPLEBACH on Sept. 1, 1957 at Covenant United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA.  They divorced in June 1983.  A widower at church caught "her fancy" after that and in March 1984 she and Robert HAHN married.  They had a happy 12 years together before he died in March 1996. She remained a widow after that.

She graduated in 1955 from Penn Manor High School.  Her uncle, Clarence RESSLER, owned the Twin Kiss (ice cream place similar to Dairy Queen) in Lancaster and she worked there during her school years.
