Lancaster New Era
Charles F. Ressler, 87, a resident of Maple Farms, formerly of
Albright Avenue, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Hope Kuhns
Ressler. Born in New Providence, he was the son of the late Frank Y. and Bertha
Findley Ressler.
Charles retired from the Mount Joy Vo-Tech
School where he had taught Building Trades Maintenance. Prior to that, he had
worked at the Bearings Company. Charles had also operated the West Lancaster
Mower Shop for many years.
He was a graduate of Millersville University and
a member of the Salem U.C.C. in Rohrerstown. He served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II. His memberships included Lodge #43 F.&A.M., Lancaster Lodge
of Perfection, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Zembo Temple. Past memberships
included the Manor Ridge Lions Club, the American Legion and the VFW in Port
Deposit, MD. He enjoyed fishing and motorcycles.
Surviving is a daughter, Gail wife of Jack
Bubernack of Manheim; a granddaughter, Krista wife of Christopher Heisey of
Manheim; a great granddaughter, Makenna Heisey; a great grandson, Tariq Fry;
and two brothers, Victor Ressler of Paris, TX and John Andrew Ressler of
Lancaster. He was preceded in death by six siblings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May
4, 2013 at 11:15 A.M. at the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta
Avenue, Lancaster, PA. Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on
Saturday at 11:00 A.M. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from
10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Interment in the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the National
Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue / Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL
33136-1494.
