The below photo was taken of her circa 1910-1915. She was described to me by her daughters as being short (4'10" to 5"), petite, olive skinned, black hair, thick dark eyebrows. Apparently there were whispered references to Spanish or gypsy blood. The jewelry in this photo was said to have been given to her by a young man as promise of marriage. He somehow disappeared (possibly WWI) and she years later married Taylor Applebach. Aunt Fran remembers a day she was cleaning graves at Terre Hill after both her parents were dead, and an elderly man, after starring at her for several minutes, commented that she looked just like Jennie Stover. She was so rattled by this totally unexpected comment, that she did not ask any questions and he wandered away. Truthfully, she looks very much like my grandma did. We've often wondered if that elderly man was the young boy connected to this jewelry.
